So, I find myself very torn about the movie 'Avatar' which has come out today. from what I can tell so far from the commercials, its a mostly-CGI sci-fi epic that is apparently loosely based on the smurfs. on one hand, as a known dork and geek, I feel obligated to be looking forward to this. I always have liked the early james cameron sci fi action stuff and have long wished for him to return to this genre. however, when I see the trailer, the main thought in my head that out screams all the others is "damn those blue elf people look horrible." there is really very little about the trailer that is at all appealing to me. and yet i cant help but have my curiosity tickled to an unbearable breaking point from hearing all the crazy somewhat artificial hype that is attached to it. that and this sick desire of mine to be up to date on ay and all pop culture refrences. so Im stuck with this very bizarre feeling of "I can not wait to see this movie that I don't really want to see."

Basically, I feel like I woke up one morning to find that james cameron had snuck into my room and wrapped my balls in duct tape. I want to get the duct tape off, but i'm not looking forward to what it's going to feel like when I do.
